誰是全世界最酷的icon?

　很多人問，「世界公民文化中心」到底在做什麼？我說，我們做「世界觀教育」。

　有人似懂非懂，什麼叫做「世界觀」？

　假如非解釋不可，借一下愛因斯坦的一本書“The World as I See it”，台灣譯成《我的世界觀》，改了一個字，我給世界觀的定義是“The World as You See it”，你怎麼看世界？　誰看世界的方法，影響了一代人和整個世界，每周「世界公民Weekly」專欄為您介紹一位「世界觀的啟蒙者」，我們一起看看究竟是誰，讓這一代人，看到一個不同的世界。

　

　世界觀的啟蒙，其實上是一種絕處逢生的世界精神。在沒有希望的地方看到希望，在不可能轉彎的地方轉彎，在無法活下去的時候活了回來。

　絕處逢生，英文叫做"life and hope renewed" ，這句話，蘋果電腦的創辦人賈伯斯（Steve Jobs），可謂當之無愧。他的成就和人格魅力定義了一個時代，他開拓了人們對科技的想像與期望；他改變整個電腦硬體業、軟體產業、音樂產業、手機產業…..也許還有更多。

　他的性格一句話就看穿：

　「活著就是為了改變世界，難道還有其他原因嗎？」"We're here to put a dent in the universe. Otherwise why else even be here?"

　在閱讀諸多有關賈伯斯的文章，其中Forbes有一段" Why Steve Jobs Is Bigger Than Bill Gates"（為什麼賈伯斯大過比爾蓋茲）寫得很有創意，一起來讀：

　He was there at the birth of the personal computer. He has had his second coming. He has healed one very sick company. And along the way he has changed the way we think about music and movies, telephones and computers. Okay, so it's not exactly "The Greatest Story Ever Told," but it's still a script with surprising zigs, inspiring zags and plenty of satisfying pay-offs.

　他參與個人電腦的問世。他實現了重生。他讓一家病入膏肓的企業起死回生。一路走來，他改變了我們對音樂和電影、電話以及電腦的認識。好吧，就算這不是「有史以來最偉大的故事」，但依然算得上一部跌宕起伏而且值回票價的劇本。

　Jobs has simply hustled his way into the middle of more of the most important technological moments of the past 25 years than anyone else. "He'll be for beginning of the 21st century what Thomas Edison was to the beginning of the 20th," McNamee says. "Edison was an inventor in an era of inventors, and Jobs is a product person in an era of products."

　賈伯斯是25年來參與重大的科技最深的一個人。McNamee 說：「他將成為21世紀的開始，一如愛迪生是20世紀的開始一樣。愛迪生是發明家輩出年代的一位發明家，而賈伯斯是產品時代的產品發起人。」

　It's a comparison that fits Jobs as snugly as his signature shoes, putting his accomplishments in a very American context. After all, Jobs didn't invent the things that define the digital age any more than Edison invented electric light.

　從發明時代、產品時代美國的時代脈絡中定義賈伯斯的成就，真是吻合的不得了。畢竟，與發明了電燈的愛迪生相比，賈伯斯並沒有真的發明那些能定義數位時代的產品。

　We can't know when the Jobs tale will end. Edison's story, however, tells us something. In the final few months of his life, Edison oversaw the construction of the electric train system between Hoboken and Dover, N.J. When the first train left the station, in 1931, Edison was at the throttle. He stayed there all the way to the end.

　我們不知賈伯斯的傳奇何時結束。但愛迪生的故事給了我們一些啟示。愛迪生在生命中的最後幾個月，監督紐澤西州Hoboken與Dover 之間鐵路電車系統的建置。1931年，第一輛火車駛離車站時，他是司機。他一直待在那裏，直到終點。

　７句話解讀賈伯斯世界精神：

　1.We're here to put a dent in the universe. Otherwise why else even be here?

　2.I would trade all of my technology for an afternoon with Socrates.

　創新決定你是領袖還是跟隨者。

　4.The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.

　要成就偉大的作品唯一途徑就是熱愛自己你所做的。如果你還沒能找到自己熱愛什麼，繼續找，不要放棄。全心全意，你找到的時候，你會知道。

　5.You know, we don't grow most of the food we eat. We wear clothes other people make. We speak a language that other people developed. We use a mathematics that other people evolved… I mean, we're constantly taking things. It's a wonderful, ecstatic feeling to create something that puts it back in the pool of human experience and knowledge.

　我們並不需要種植自己的糧食，也不需要做自己穿的衣服，我們說著別人創造的語言，用著別人發明的數學...我們一直享受別人的成果。在人類的已有經驗和知識基礎上創造是一件美好的事。

　6.Stay hungry，Stay foolish

　求知若饑，虛心若愚。

　7.There's a phrase in Buddhism, "Beginner's mind." It's wonderful to have a beginner's mind.

　佛教中有一句話：初心；擁有初心真是一件美好的事。
